Trust is at the heart of every solid relationship. But nothing damages trust as much as being cheated on, by your partner.

The term “cheating:” can have various connotations, depending on the individuals, culture and circumstances involved. Those in traditional relationships will have different ground rules for acceptable behavior and loyalty, than others who are engaged in an open relationship.

Being involved in a serious relationship with one individual and engaging in online dating with another, going out on a date with a “friend” you have romantic inclinations for, or meeting your ex-partner for drinks with more than friendship in mind, are just some of the most common occurrences that can push a person to the brink of infidelity.

If you are on the verge of cheating, whether it is by your definition or your partner’s; then it is time to take a good, hard look at your relationship and see how far you are willing to go in your quest for excitement. Sometimes, it is better to break off your present relationship, if the temptation to go astray rises often in your heart. Whatever you decide to do, remember, no-one deserves to be cheated on, no matter what the excuse is. Honesty always does pay in the long run, however difficult it may seem at present.
